I'm Ahmed.
16-year builder.
I'm Ahmed Kammoura (Kammorah) — Senior SWE at Amazon, 16-year builder. I've shipped multi-stack systems — mobile, backend, AI, data — across Big Tech and a long line of startup engineering roles spanning fintech, AI, clean energy, healthtech, logistics, and intelligence. I build for production, not for slides.

At Amazon 2020 — present
At Amazon I've worked across two distinct orgs — Amazon Business (B2B procurement at marketplace scale) and Amazon Devices (Ring, Blink, and consumer-device subscription + support infrastructure) — on tier-1 production systems with strict latency and reliability SLAs.
On the Amazon Business side, the work has spanned several platforms in sequence:
- AB Pricing — tier-1, high-TPS dynamic pricing platform, including productionization of the AB pricing ML model.
- Custom Quote Engine (CQE) — B2B quote and negotiation platform for business customers buying in bulk from Amazon sellers and vendors. Led the design of key components (checkout, attribution, custom offers), directed international expansion across 27 European countries and 5 marketplaces, coordinated 12+ cross-functional teams. The product line drives billions of dollars in operational impact.
- Planned Spend platform — expanded the procurement workflows available to enterprise buyers (recurring patterns, approval workflows, budget allocations).
- Key Value Items (KVI) catalog platform — currently leading the engineering. The catalog powers business-customer experiences across search, lists, a dedicated B2B purchasing site, and the Planned Spend procurement workflow.
- B2B delivery experience — multi-recipient delivery, bulk fulfillment coordination, business-account tracking and exception handling.
On the Amazon Devices side, the work covers tier-1 systems behind Ring, Blink, and the broader Devices portfolio — customer-support platforms (support workflows, agent tooling, customer-context retrieval, escalation routing for millions of device customers) plus tier-1 payment + subscription infrastructure (Ring Protect, Blink subscriptions, payment-method management, billing workflows, subscription state machines).
That's the Big Tech credential. The interesting work happens on both sides of it.
Outside Amazon
Beyond the day job I've worked on systems across fintech, AI, clean energy, healthtech, logistics, and intelligence — mostly as the architect, strategy lead, or technical owner, with hands-on engineering when the work needed it. The full sector + technology picture lives at /projects.
Earlier
Before Amazon, I served as CTO across four companies:
- Bazaar — Saudi Arabia's first video commerce platform.
- Gotrah Ventures — Riyadh startup studio. 3 MVPs shipped, 35-engineer org.
- IN3 / Buzzdigger — B2B social-listening + data-intelligence platform on Kafka + Spark + Druid + Kubernetes, with AI/ML enrichment (Arabic-first NLP) and advanced analytics for enterprise customers.
- Trendyship — Social media + marketplace for fashion. Multi-region AWS platform with ML-driven data cleaning at 500K-item scale.
And before the CTO seats — earlier projects across geospatial, mobile/AR, and education that shaped how I think about shipping: Rahal (location-based AR reality-gaming platform), NavInside (indoor positioning + geofencing via Wi-Fi fingerprinting), SIA (K12 education platform), Wittyheads (education games for school-age learners), and GeniUs — the first app I ever shipped, where the 16-year build career started. The full sector + technology picture lives at /projects and /stack.
Sixteen years of shipping. Most of what I write at The Builder Notebook comes from these systems and the ones I'm building now.
What I work on
- AI in production, especially the parts that aren't glamorous: evals, cost, latency, fraud, drift.
- Distributed systems and data platforms at startup speed with Big Tech rigor.
- Going 0→1: the architecture, the first five hires, the decisions you can't easily undo.
- Building from MENA outward, not inward. Cairo to Madrid to wherever the code runs.
Where I am
Madrid · Cairo · Riyadh — across Spain & Europe, Egypt & MENA, Saudi Arabia & the Gulf.
